SkillOnNet and NGG Nordic lose penalty appeals

SkillOnNet, an online casino operator, and NGG Nordic, a Betsson subsidiary, faced fines for incentive offerings that violated the country’s Gaming Act. But they sought to setback the regulator’s decisions and brought their cases before Sweden’s Administrative Court.

However, neither operator’s appeal was whole successful. While SkillOnNet’s endeavour was rejected outright, NGG Nordic saw its penalty fee decreased from SEK 19m ($2m) to SEK 14m.

According to the regulator, the Administrative Court “made a partly different assessment than the Swedish Gambling Authority regarding the demand for a verbatim connexion to the game”, but the SGA’s pilot determination was mostly upheld.

This prompted both companies to launch further appeals, but these too experience at present been rejected. As a result, both SkillOnNet and NGG Nordic must pay their respective SEK 14m fines.
