Several UK charities make received donations after sportsbooks handed o'er profits from this year’s Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Charities lot to welfare from a divvy up of £1.2m ($1.5m) worth of donations include The Soldiers’ Charity, Eugene Sue Ryder, Ascot Racecourse Supports Community Fund, The Ivors Academy Trust and Cotswold Riding for the Disabled.
The cash in hand were raised past Betting and Gaming Council (BCG) members, which include operators Flutter, bet365, Entain, William Hill, 888 Holdings, BetVictor, Kindred Group, Betway, Rank Group, Virgin Bet, Tote, Fitzdares and Bet with Ascot.
BCG members experience raised £5.5m for charity since its formation in Nov 2019, through the Britannia Stakes run and the virtual Grand National.
BGC CEO Michael Dugher said: “It’s outstanding news that BGC members get at one time once more made such a bounteous donation to several glorious charities. BGC members financial backing the jobs of nearly 120,000 people and we are proud to rearwards so many upright causes inward so many local communities all year round.
"We are also as proud of the faithful relationship we make with the great British summercater of horseracing. But with crowds back, with millions to a greater extent watching it live on ITV and with this year beingness Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, Royal Ascot 2022 was special special.”
Director of Fundraising at Sue Ryder, Carolean Graham, added: “We are delighted to have benefited from the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot this year and require to give thanks the members of the BGC for their generosity.
“It is specially special for us to be chosen inwards the Platinum Jubilee yr as Her Majesty The Queen is our patron. This unbelievable donation testament make up such a difference to Eugene Sue Ryder.”
